Attended the Conejo Valley/Thousand Oaks Art Walk,June 5-6. A successful weekend selling many original cards and 2 paintings. The large painting "Early Morning" was acquired by Herbert Kalazair of Westlake Village. Setting up the previous evening was comical,as the organizers had stated that set up would be Sat am. We arrived and found the car park filled with cars(presumably from B of A). Waited 90 minutes to clear, then set up. I need the help so can only use my grandson when I can get him back home, hence the need to set up Friday evening. Was pleased to see Judy and David Piche again...they stated that they are contemplating move to Boise,Idaho. They have collected my work to add to their gallery of California landscapes, but branched out into a still life abstract.Ron Merrill visited and Dave Prouty came by....taking 3-4 cards for his art class. Students use for design criticsm. Also purchsed the book on paintings and sculpture. Linda and Frank Huybrechts were interested in the Xmas portfolio.May Wu, Shirley Lippe and husband and Alice Domke stopped by also. Was glad to see many from the Simi Valley Art Assoc and Westlake Village Art Guild(Irv Morgan,Pat Duggan,Bruce). John Kaali revisited having purchased work in 2007. Greeted Mark Jansen and Higbee having lost touch with them over the last few years...still doing well with interior design and art photography.David Teplow was in France at meeting but his wife called to say hello and mentioned that David had heart surgery about 6 months prior. Hope for a speedy recovery, but must be doing well to allow trip.
No showing in rest of June but hope to visit the Malibu Show at end of July.
Will travel north for the Los Altos Art and Wine Festival,July 10-11.

April/May
Have ignored the diary for some time...not much happening.
Was disappointed not to be accepted into the Calabasas Art Show. Learnt later that the show was not very successful, which was surprising as I enjoyed the prior years.
Woodland Hills Show,March 20-21, had a low turnout and my booth did not do very well especially on the Saturday. It appears that Jay, an active Rotary Member will probably be more involved next year.
Mother's Day Show,May 9-10 in Studio City was a great success and much improved over the prior year. Sold original and boxed cards in the morning(Valerie Watts bought 3 boxes) and had significant interest in the paintings . Robert Tuley was my neighbor, master design goldsmith, had a good show.Cindy and Dominique were in different locations. Shirley Lipe dropped by. Hghlight was meeting a young couple Jennifer and Andrew Janko who fell in love with a new painting "Sea Breeze" and are now the proud collectors of the work.
June 5,6 I will be at the Conejo Valley Art Walk, Thousand Oaks(formally Countrywide Bld,101 @Moorpark). Always well organized and presented by the Conejo Valley Art Museum. Later in year will be in Los Altos and Mountain View.
UCLA Emeriti Art Show this Tuesday,May 18. Usually sell many cards with some money donated to the Art Show.

February
Greeting for the New Year. Little late with this update, partly procrastination.
The year ended with cancellation, due to rain of the winter Woodland Hills Show. However, was invited to participate in the Westland School Boutique. Hoped to sell Holiday/Xmas cards. Did so, but was delighted that Mr and Mrs Michael Giacchino purchased "Table Symphony". This was a fund raiser for the school as well,so all parties benefitted. Dr Christine Charles, a rheumatologist at UCLA School of Medicine bought one of the "Eden Series",illustrated in the book,"#6,Blue Lagoon" I had used this painting as my screen saver. Shirley Lane and Dr Scott Binder purchased the original canvas paintings of 2 new images added to the Xmas/Holiday collection. Otherwise the holiday period was quiet but working on a sculpture and adding cards to the original card collection.
First show of the year was this last weekend in Palm Springs. Three day show over President's Day. Very slow on Saturday and Sunday and slower on the Monday, which was highlighted however,by meeting John and Suzanne Griffith who purchased my prize winning entry in the Westlake Village Art Guild members show
held January 6-29,2010, entitled "Oriental Composition in Yellow". Thanks due Dennis Griffin and Craig Morton for organization. Was also delighted to meet up again with very old friends and onetime colleague, Dr Marshall Cheung and his wife Ann. Joined us for dinner and reminiscence.
Shows upcoming include Woodland Hills Art and Crafts,March 20,21.....Calabasas Fine Arts Festival,May 1,2......Studio City,May,8,9......Thousand Oaks Art Walk,June 5,6.....Los Altos Art and Wine Festival,July 10,11.
